Public Involvement

During the drafting of the CEP, we have had tremendous involvement from the public and our stakeholders. DPS wishes to thank the thousands of individuals and organizations who shared their perspectives on Vermont’s energy future. DPS staff worked diligently to review the concerns and suggestions of Vermonters.

Refer to the Publications, Presentations page, for links to the Public Involvement Reports I & II, and the transcripts of each Public Hearing.

Continue To be Involved

The Department of Public Service is actively involved with our state agency partners and other stakeholders to implement the CEP. Many parts of this plan will not come to fruition without the direct participation of citizens, businesses, and organizations in Vermont. The following are suggestions for how to continue your involvement in shaping Vermont’s Energy Future:

  • Read Volume I for a full understanding of the overarching goals of the CEP. Use Volume II and the Appendixes as references to understand the background behind our energy goals.
  • Raise discussion among townspeople about Vermont’s energy goals and actions. Join with others in your community to reduce energy consumption in homes, businesses, and transportation, and to build new renewable energy options. Some individuals and organizations to contact include: the Town Energy Committee in your area, your town and regional planners, and the Vermont Energy and Climate Action Network (VECAN, www.vecan.net).
  • Become part of the solution and contribute your efforts to meet one of the biggest challenges of our time. Find ways you can reduce energy consumption for electricity, thermal (heating) and transportation, by moving towards energy efficiency & conservation, and cleaner energy sources.
